  • Begin at the end.

Well hello out there in Xanga Land!! I hate it when people spend an entire blog post apologizing for not blogging, so I am not going to. :) I wanted to say hi to all my Xanga friends and let you know what I've been up to! Will I continue to post regularly? Maybe, maybe not. I'm not sure, but I will try to keep up with reading everyone!

    So what's new with me?

Should I start from the beginning, or from the ending? I will tell you this. At this moment, I am sitting in MY APARTMENT in Richmond, Victoria, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia, typing on my Macbook. It is almost noon on Wednesday and at 4:30 I have to go to work, which is a shame because that is the exact time my roommate, aka the Love of my Freaking Life, gets home.

Tonight, we will go food shopping and cook dinner and watch DVD's and I will knit and we will do other stuff *wink* and we will be madly in love, as per usual.

His name is Dan, and he has the sexiest British accent, and he is gorgeous, and we have been together for 5 months. We met at a waterfall in Laos shortly after my last post. A WATERFALL in LAOS!!!

I won't say it was love at first sight, because first sight was him, shivering in the shallow end of the swimming hole, with a t-shirt sunburn like you wouldn't believe (yes, he is a delicate English rose) and me teasing him for being lame and not jumping straight in like I did. (Oh wow, I have so much to tell y'all!!) But it was love-very-soon-after-first-sight, and we spent 10 glorious days together in Laos and Thailand, and then I went home. HOME! So far away.

I spent January at home (why did I not update then? I do not know) and February in the Bahamas doing Yoga Teacher Training at an Ashram... YUM! and then in March, I came here to Australia, to be with him.

Crazy? Probably. Good decision? The best.

Traveling is amazing, I absolutely love this life of mine. At the moment, it's a tad boring, just work (babysitting) and apartment stuff, plus it's fall here so I'm missing my favorite time of year at home (though I guess after spending winter in the tropics I can't complain!!), but in July we are going up to the BEACH!! Yay! and then I am going back to the US for a few weeks to work and hang out. Dan will come in September to meet me, and see the USA for the first time, and then we will go... somewhere else. Not sure where! But I still really want to live in Italy so we'll see about that.

    I'll keep you posted!!

Check out my pics, link is in post below, and read about my adventures at Travels with Swatchy!! Just find the posts by Devon :)

    Hugs and kisses to all!!

  • Well, I'm in...

I finally did the two things I've been swearing I wouldn't do:

    1) Join Facebook

2)Sign up for Ravelry (I'm DevonC but I have no idea how it all works so you have to find me)

Like I needed more ways to spend time in front of a computer...  Ironically, I'm going to Fiji in 5 days and won't be able to do any of it hahahaha...

  • Hey Strangers!

I have been such a bad Xangan lately! I have missed all my friends  (Thanks for the nudge, Patty) Let's see.... I'm still hanging out in SoCal... getting together with Amy today for some Botanical Garden shenanigans...(oh crap! They're closed on Mondays! We'll have to find someplace else to have shenanigans).

Anyway, tomorrow Jenny and I are going to Catalina Island and next Tuesday, I have a one way ticket to FIJI!! Seriously. It's crazy but I'm so excited!

I'm off to catch up with y'all....

  • Updates

    Hi mamas!

Sorry I've been so out of touch, though I'm sure you can guess why! I have been a travelin' fool these past almost-two weeks... First it was Toronto, then Portland (possibly my new favorite city!), then San Francisco -- I stayed in Berkeley and it was fab!, traveling to Modesto (to meet Amy) and Alameda (to meet Margo!)

Now I am in LA with my best friend, my love, Jenny, who I haven't seen in over a month, and we are GOING TO VEGAS TOMORROW!!! I am so excited. We're staying at Excalibur which looks like a CASTLE and hopefully I will meet Lisa! And then... I am going to Utah to meet CALLIE!!

I promise a nice long update with pictures very soon, and a link to my Travel Blog (which I haven't posted on yet so don't worry)... (oh, and a special report on my love life for inquiring minds who want the dirt ) and I will read up on what you all have been up to....

    Stay well everyone! MWAH!

P.S. I got a backpack, which is fugly, and also added to my brilliant business plan about using the female aesthetic for marketing.

P.P.S. I have also been brewing some thoughts about intelligence and perception, remind me to tell you about it.

    *gasp* FINSHED objects?

I never thought I'd see the day. Can you believe how many projects I've finished?? Some are older, but most were done recently in an effort to clean out my knitting stash before I go. And of course, I have cast on unnecessary new projects as well .

Have you guys met my niece, Mindy? Tee hee... my sister has slept with this doll since she was 1. That's 21 years, folks! She needed a new dress. I designed it myself!! (the reason she is fairly clean is because Kym scrubbed her with Oxi-Clean -- I swear that stuff is MAGIC.)

Turtle Hat from Itty-Bitty Hats. The turtles are crocheted circles with embroidery! Malabrigo merino-- yum!

And the leftover green went to this: Hippo hat! Patti designed the crochet hippo just for me :) -- isn't she awesome? It's a little hard to see because the colors are so dark, but trust me, it's adorable :)

This halter I made at the beginning of the summer and sent to Ruby for her 1st birthday! I hope she got to wear it :) Berrocco Cotton Twist, it's Katja from Knitty.

I made a new yoga mat bag with this yummy cotton I bought in SF last summer. The colorway is "Leaf" and it's got a shiny thread spun into it. My own pattern for the bag, lace is from 200 Ripple Stitch Patterns.

Here's Sheldon!! Didn't he come so cute? It was a really fun knit, even on the tiny needles. I tried to stuff his neck more tightly, but it's floppy. Oh well, it's for a baby anyway. KnitPicks Shine, which I happened to have in my stash!

This is a cardigan I made for a preggo co-worker but never got a chance to give it to her. We weren't that close anyway, hahaha... now I'll have a baby gift for the next shower. The coolest pattern -- it's knit all in one piece! The only seams are on the sleeves. I still need to put buttons on it. Elaine yarn in the Peter Pan colorway.

The Fishie Fooshies, felted. This is the only pattern I will make over and over. I just love it!! There's a little sock cuff. For Meg, in London.... I am buttering her up so I can go live with her LOL

Stay tuned... there's more to come!

  • The Latest Installment

in the insanity that is mi vida loca.

Last night, my sister and I went to Broadway, as per usual. Her boyfriend works there and it's quiet on weeknights, we just go and have a drink or a water and hang out with the guys. It's like Cheers LOL. So our friend Captain Matt, he runs one of the big party fishing boats, comes in with Capt Brian and we're all hanging out, then the 4 of us go across the street to the boat to hang out there.

We decide, at about 3 (mostly sober, no less) to go for a cruise in the little boat -- it's about a six person center console, cute. We cruise down the river, into the bay, and it's really nice. The sky was crazy dark so there were a million stars!! Coming back, Brian is really gunning it, the wind is blowing in our faces, it's incredible. And then, all of a sudden,

    THUNK!

We completely run aground. Hahahahaha! So poor Matty had to get out of the boat and push! I suggested we just hang and wait for the tide to come in, but we didn't have enough beer.

We got back into dock at around 5, I was home in bed by 6. Yes, AM. So I shouldn't feel guilty for sleeping til 1 pm, right?

Anyway, what a fun night!! I am so glad the moon is waxing again. I am really starting to notice a connection between the moon and my social life.
